  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter or vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for topping)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (for topping)
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans (for topping)
  • 1 1/2 cups very hot water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
  3. In another bowl, mix pumpkin puree, milk, melted butter (or oil), and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Combine wet ingredients into dry ingredients and stir until just mixed; pour into an 8-inch casserole dish.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix granulated sugar, brown sugar, and chopped pecans; sprinkle over the batter.
  6. Carefully pour 1 ½ cups of very hot water over the top without stirring and place on a baking sheet.
  7. Bake for about 40 minutes or until the center is set.
