Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. To prepare the meringue, beat egg whites and cream of tartar until foamy. Gradually add sugar while increasing speed until stiff peaks form.
  3. Pipe mounds onto the prepared baking sheet for ghosts and bake for 2 hours, then let cool in the oven.
  4. For the buttercream frosting, mix softened butter, confectioner’s sugar, milk, and purple gel food coloring until smooth.
  5. Frost each cupcake generously with the purple buttercream.
