  • 1 cup warm water or warm milk
  • 2 teaspoons honey
  • 7 tablespoons salted butter at room temperature
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a stand mixer with a dough hook, mix flour, yeast, and salt. Add warm water or milk, honey, and butter. Knead until smooth.
  2. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
  3. Preheat oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  4. Roll dough into a rectangle, spread with butter, sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar mixture, fold in half and cut into strips.
  5. Twist strips into knots and place on the baking sheet.
  6. Melt remaining butter; mix with cinnamon and brown sugar for the topping. Spoon over knots.
  7. Bake for about 16–20 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Prepare glaze by mixing powdered sugar, cream cheese, vanilla extract, and water to desired consistency.
