  • 1 large egg (at room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar (packed)
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons butter (melted)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 cup butter (cold and cut into pieces, for crumb topping)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for crumb topping)
  • 3 1/2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (for crumb topping)
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (for crumb topping)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and prepare a 6-mold donut pan with non-stick baking spray.
  2. In a small bowl, mix granulated sugar, flour, and cinnamon for the crumb topping. Add cold butter pieces and blend until it resembles coarse crumbs. Chill this mixture in the freezer.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt for the donuts. In another bowl, combine sour cream, brown sugar, melted butter, and egg until smooth.
  4. Fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients gently until just combined.
  5. Fill each mold of the donut pan with batter and generously sprinkle with crumb topping.
  6. Bake for about 10-11 minutes or until donuts spring back when pressed lightly. Cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
