  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ cups brown sugar
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • For Frosting: 1 cup unsalted butter
  • cream cheese
  • powdered sugar
  • heavy cream
  • cocoa powder
  • vanilla bean paste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two greased and lined 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla until combined. Gradually mix in cocoa powder, salt, and flour until just blended.
  3. Pour batter evenly into prepared pans and bake for approximately 25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely before removing from pans.
  4. For frosting, beat together butter and cream cheese until smooth; gradually add powdered sugar and mix in heavy cream, cocoa powder, and vanilla bean paste until creamy.
  5. Assemble by layering the brownie cakes with frosting in between and cover the entire cake with remaining frosting.
