  • 1 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 3 tablespoons canola oil
  • 33¼ cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter (for topping)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 tablespoon grated parmesan cheese
  • Marinara sauce (for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl or stand mixer, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water; let sit until foamy.
  2. Add salt, oil, and two cups of flour to the yeast mixture; mix until combined. Gradually add remaining flour until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough until smooth, then place in a greased bowl. Cover and let rise in a warm place for one hour.
  4. Punch down the risen dough, divide into 16 pieces, and roll each into a 12-inch rope. Cut slits on each side and twist to shape into bones.
  5. Place shaped breadsticks on a greased baking sheet, cover again, and let rise for another 45 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) during the last few minutes of rising.
  7. Bake breadsticks for about 12-14 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic salt and parmesan cheese before serving with marinara sauce.
